Cool but.

I'll be honest, I am under the influenmce quite severelely. So this might not be an accurate review. BUT.... I didn't like the overall sound, I much preferred the feel of the original, I do appreciate the more organic vocal track, but it's just too intense for me the rest of it. I can't wait to hear your next though, you could be going in an interesting direction. But as for this, the sound didn't work for me.

Cayler responds:

This song in general has been received like Marmite, you either like it or you don't. lol I've had people , usually more familiar with musical theory, tell me that it's lacking so much of what they'd expect to hear, but some others tell me it's their fav because of it's simplicity. I did feel the same about the vocals when I was reviewing them, in that I thought they lacked some of the emotion the previous version had, but this is mainly because of my attempt to keep experimenting with my possible singing styles to find what I'd prefer overall. I think the organic sound is probably my more preferred way of singing so either I'll change this in the future, or I'll make sure the rest of my stuff has less strict vocals like this, and just leave this one how it is for those who might prefer this kind of style, or are just looking for versatility in my voice.

Very cool.

I liked the into in the other version. Cool Piano though.
One thing I'm still not personally a fan of is the effects on the vocals, I would l-o-v-e to hear an acoustic song by you two.
It sounds good either way.

ApproachingNirvana responds:

Good to see you Assassin! I still hear you on the vocals. Although I must admit, this a vast improvement over the original version. I think you can tell a large improvement in the quality and mixing of the vocals. The autotune is used a bit less in this one and I (SinJim) got a lot better at laying down vocals these past two weeks.

If you check out our Myspace or Facebook, we've got another song w/ piano and guitar in it. It's also got some techno elements but it's more pop-y than anything we've got on NGs. We did use autotune on it but in the near future we're going to start to phase it out as we improve.

I would love to say we can sing that well, but it's just not completely true yet. As we get better, though, we will be using autotune less and less.

We are definitely thinking about acoustic stuff and we've got a lot of stuff up our sleeves but we need gain a fanbase and get a bit better before we can start venturing out to other things.

We've also got plans to revamp Wrecked and the Heist, so keep an eye out!

Thanks for the review, man! It's always good to see you here.

Awesome!

I really like this! I like the sounds you used. And I like the way you composed it, it's got a killer theme, and it's very dynamic but stays cohesive. Nice stuff!

Zero123Music responds:

Thank you alot!!

Originally I thought this was my best - but quite a few people dislike this piece :(

Coolio.

Very cool guitars, I like how it shifts near the end, sounds really good there, my only criticism is that it doesn't quite loop or end. It'd be great to extend it by having a fifth part of it without the killer guitars that would ease it into either a perfect loop with those violins or some kind of ending.
Other than that though, it's very nice.

Zero123Music responds:

thanks assassin :)

I was trying to make it loop like the FF9 battle (i think)

anyways, I will try and loop it better

Has a nice hook.

It's been a very long wait to here something new from you.
This was, different. It's certainly not what I expected. I really liked some of your lyrics, especially the bridge. It seemed to get better as it progressed.
The sound isn't my acute taste, but it does contrast nicely with your voice. I'd definitely try the remaster you are thinking of doing.
Good job in the end.

Cayler responds:

Yeah, the way the bridge turned out is nice, but at the same time I feel like it's a little bit too cliche for me. I so often have some quiet piano vocal bridge in my songs that I think I've overdone it by now. lol

I liked it.

I like the first half most. The sounds are much more ice-like to me and the main melody really (maybe by accident) worked perfect with the ambient sound. The choir could have been less hard towards the end though. The second one starts good and seems part of the first piece. But I think the lead instrument was too organic if that makes sense, I get the idea of some lonely yetti or something like that as opposed to a spirit.

Both good though.

MaestroRage responds:

good analysis, we thank you for taking the time to vote and review! I chose the bassoon for the very reason you stated, it felt more organic, personal preference really.

Thank you for the review, we're glad you liked it!

Kick ass, seriously.

Classical and Electro makes Synthony. And I love it. It's got the power and elegance of classical and the energy and flavor of techno.
That cello line it begins with is so bad ass, makes me think of Apocalyptica so much only being fast paced and techno rather than metal. I love the dynamic balance between the two elements, I mean I love classical, but I gotta say you make me a fan of the techno too.

I'm a reverb-fan now.

ApproachingNirvana responds:

Thanks for the review and for joining the mailing list :D. Synthony... That's got a nice ring to it. Would you mind if we used that for an album name? Synthony of something would be what it is. I likes.

We'll be coming out with some more tracks soon. We've got a few more in the works and some that are close to finished. Some are leaning to the side of techno or classical so we'll have a bit of variety in the album when it's finished.

Thanks for stopping by and reviewing!

Woot.

I hope to hear more from you two, this is like techy Planet Terror. S'mad when people can work together and it ends up sweet.

ApproachingNirvana responds:

Thank again, really appreciate it.

Man, can't wait to send showcase the next one.... somehow, it ended up even better :D

Awesome stuff.

Dude this was pure progression. I love the first transitions!

I disagree on Zero saying the timpani roll was too loud, sounded appropriate to me.

If I was going to criticize anything, I would say that maybe you could have progressed the melody as it evolved with the styles you did so well. Kinda like what Zero was saying. But dude, this was cool. Makes me wanna make something now.

SinJim responds:

Thanks for the kind comments, Assassin! I'm glad you liked it. I can definitely tell what you guys are mentioning with the melody development. I guess I was so focused on going through each genre that it never occurred to me to change the melody up a bit.

If I get time I'll check that out too. Thanks again!

~SinJim

PS - Oh yea, go make something so I can see a sweet creation from someone's interpretation of my song!

Very cool.

What a gloriously out of tune piano. Would be great to hear it a little more nicely. But then again, it's nice to hear a raw piece. And was it just 1,6,4,5? Oh sorry. hahahaah.

BlazingDragon responds:

Gloriously out of tune is a severe understatement. :P But you can hopefully get the feel of the song across despite the poor quality. I don't think I can edit out that line towards the end, lol. That was actually Tamadrum, who was wondering what the chord progression was at that point in the song. XD

Thanks for reviewing!

Never be afraid to open your minds. Create something, anything. You'll love doing it, I promise.
